(Update: The updated CDROM is now ready.) Donna Young, the Science Olympiad astronomy event coordinator, has completed a Teacher's Guide for the Citizen Sky project which will be on the next version of the Science Olympiad coach's CDROM. Next year's CD will be available in late summer or fall, but we have place the teacher's guide online right now. You can download it here.

Donna Young, the Science Olympiad astronomy event coordinator, has completed a Teacher's Guide for the Citizen Sky project which will be on the next version of the Science Olympiad coach's CDROM. The CDROM is sold each year to coaches as a fundraising tool for the Science Olympiad parent organization. Next year's CD will be available in late summer or fall, but we have place the teacher's guide online right now. You can download it here.

Over the next year Donna is going to develop specific CS activities for students competing in the Science Olympiad astronomy events. These activities will include identification of epsilon Aurigae and basic analysis of data uploaded by Citizen Sky participants using the free VStar software, which is very close to an official release date (stay tuned to the home page over the coming weeks).

So, basically, CS is going to be a major part of next year's olympiad (and likely the 2012 olympiad also). But you can start reviewing materials now.

March 17, 2010 Update:
The Science Olympiad folks have made a special effort to update the current Coach's CD-ROM to include the Citizen Sky materials. So you can purchase it right now through their web site.
