Exploring the Night Sky From Riverwoods Field Lab
Riverwoods Field Lab of the Center for Environmental Studies of Florida Atlantic University
http://www.ces.fau.edu/education/riverwoods/ will host students from Forest Hill High School in West Palm Beach, Florida. The event will be held at Riverwoods. Riverwoods is 25 miles from the nearest town and has one of the last dark sky sites in south- central Florida.
Chris Stephan, Education Specialist at Riverwoods (and an AAVSO observer) will show the students the autumn/ winter night sky using our 12.5 inch reflecting telescope. Chris will use the night sky as a real planetarium and show the constellations and bright stars by name with a green laser pointer. Epsilon Aurigae and Algol will be featured in the presentation. Chris will give some information on the Citizen Sky project and the observations of these 2 stars.
This event is NOT open to the public. The event will go from 7:00-10:00PM EST. Forest Hill students and teachers will be the only ones present.
