AAVSO Site Question
I was wondering, with the new AAVSO website up and running (and looking SWEET I must say!), are there plans on adding a message forum as there is here to coincide with or maybe even replace the e-mail discussion groups? I think forums are much better for interaction, searching and feeling connected to various threads as opposed to an e-mail digest. Just wondering....
Thank you Arne, for all the AAVSOhas done for us hereat Citizen Sky as well as for all of us AAVSOmembers with the new site. I think it's outstanding, the way it is laid out and easy to navigate. Iknow there are some issues with broken links but porting things over to a new site is not as simple as clicking the ONbutton. lol That's great to hear there will be a new chat room and new forums! Forums are such an easy way to easily follow and stay up to date on various threads, plus there's a lot more flexibility to them. Forums can be added and monitored so much easier which I think will be of great value to AAVSOmembers, if there aren't plans yet I would make a suggestion to have an area specific to us newer members/observers where we can interact and help one another as well as get some 'virtual' mentoring from experienced observers. It's great to have fellow newbies working together with the assistance of experienced observers, like we have here at CS. Plus, just by reading through theads by established, experienced observers we can pick things up through osmosis. Definitely looking forward to those forums! Maurice
Hi Maurice, Thanks for your compliments on the new AAVSO website. We will be adding new chat-room software soon, and forums are planned as well (very similar to the CS forums). We'll probably keep the existing mail-lists for the near future until we see how the forums work out. Arne
