Hello all,

1. What are the best white balance settings for a DSLR for photometry?
I took several normal daylight images with the DSLR and analyzing the histograms of the RAW images it turns out that colour temperature settings (3200K up to 7000K) influence the color intensities (Red, Green and Blue) quite a bit.
I can't figure out  which color temperature setting is best for the photometry.

2. I can manual adjust the white balance settings further between Blue, Green, Amber and Magenta. Does this indicate that the Canon 1000D has non-RGB-filters ? Or is it just a setting?

Any comments are welcome.

Kind regards,
Henk

Hello Henk, Have a look at my answerto your former post. Normally the raw output is free of any processing in the camera. It could be the sofware you use to read the .cr2 file that applies the color settings back to the raw data (the settings are incuded in the file as metadata for further reference) The 1000D should beRGB as any DSLR, only low end DSC use (used ?) CMY or other CFA, have a look at the Technical Characteristics page of the documentation, normally the imager is described in it (but I think the IR filter is not removable, it's the case of my 450D) Yours truly, Roger
