The eclipsing object in the optical spectrum at second contact
To mark the second contact point in the light curve, I have summarised the evidence of the eclipsing object as measured at various wavelengths in the optical spectra recorded at high resolution. (Potassium 7699A, Hydrogen alpha 6563A, Hydrogen gamma region

The results are broadly in line with what was seen in previous eclipses but the increased coverage, (particularly the period around solar conjunction which most professional observatories cannot reach) is revealing details in the progress of the eclipse previously unseen.
Some of the results have already been published in two poster papers presented at professional conferences this year.
Spectroscopic data from suitably equipped amateurs who are located far enough north to observe throught the summer could be particularly crucial in understanding what is going on in the centre of the eclipsing disc.
