Help with VStar
Hi all,
I'm learning about VStar, and I’ve a problem with decimals. When I want to plot a phase diagram, I enter the period and the date but the program is ignorant of the decimal point. I attach a capture. I use Windows 7.
Have you any solution?
Thanks David

Hi Heinz,
Switching Windows to a US-locale it works perfectly.
Thank you very much
David
Hi David Thanks Heinz, for helping David out with this. As Heinz mentioned, this is a known problem in releases up to and including the current version 2.10. Heinz first brought it to my attention, e.g. see this VStar SourceForge tracker: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&aid=3108092&group_id=263306&atid=1152052 The next version is underway and I believe I've fixed it throughout but this needs thorough testing. Version 2.11 will be released to Citizen Sky before AAVSO so having you try this when available would be very valuable. The broader issue of localisation also needs to be addressed and is the subject of this tracker: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&aid=3059737&group_id=263306&atid=1152052 Regards, David
Hi David You may have seen Sara Beck's request to the VStar team to test version 2.11: This link will give you the current test release: http://www.aavso.org/files/vstar/test_version/vstar.jnlp We are now first making test releases (since 2.10) before making official releases to Citizen Sky and AAVSO. Team members Heinz and Jaime have already tested German and Spanish locales. Let us know if Spanish locale works for you with this new release. Thanks. Regards, David
Hi David, Vstar 2.11 works fine for mi in Spanish locale now. Best regards David

Hi! I know that there are some issues still left with VStar when it is running in non-US locales where the decimal separator is a comma instead of a period. It's a non-trivial effort to get it all consistent throughout the GUI. For the meantime, you might want to try to swicth Windows to a US-locale while VStar is executing. The next version will have some improvements in this area. Hope this helps Heinz-Bernd
