How about a little challenge
**Just for fun** and to support bringing new observers aboard (and maybe giving a little incentive to others) I would like to propose a challenge for other astronomy clubs/groups!
Here are my thoughts so far...looking for your input.
What if we found all the clubs thus far associated with the Citizen Sky project and proposed a challenge. Each club who was able to bring on 10% of their membership each of whom made 10 observations over a time period > 10 weeks would win lovely certificate for their club and downloadable certificates for each of their team members (or access to purchasing patches). The club with the highest % of new observers completing the 10 observations in >10 weeks by the end of the eclipse would win a large and wonderful tacky trophy!!
It would be fun, it would be a great way to re-introduce the project and it might get folks out now....in the wee hours...instead of waiting until later months when it is an easier target. It also allows Citizen Sky and the AAVSO to be the progenitor of free and easy club activity material which many clubs would appreciate, it would get the 10 star Tutorial out to more folks, and it would re-energize everyone!
The criteria and rational
- Astronomy/Science clubs and other groups may participate - this allows student clubs and other groups of people to participate.
- Minimum # of club members:10 - what do you think, do we need this? Would people try and have a club of 1 to get 100% and win the trophy? Need to work on this...
- 10% of the club membership - evens out the big club vs small club issue. A student club of 10 only has to get one new member observing
- 10 observations in > 10 weeks - instead of 10 nights in a row, 10 weeks might make it enough of a habit to get them hooked and stretches out observations through the end of the eclipse.
- Club should submit one photo of their group or members in action - potential fodder for more grant funding and visual reinforcement.
Feedback anyone??

As a carpet cleaner and attending club in my college life, you have made the right and good decision Justafew, your criteria and rationals are fair and in good plan, keep it up. Cheers, James
