Newspaper Coverage

Highlands Today, a central Florida newspaper, published a story about Chris Stephan's participation in Citizen Sky and his background as an amateur astronomer. Check it out here:

This is the kind of grassroots effort we need to help spread the word to those who don't follow the traditional amateur astronomy media channels. All you need to do is contact your local newspaper. They are usually understaffed, overworked and very hungry for interesting local stories like this to fall in their lap. We even have a press release we can tailor to your area and then send to the newspaper.

Way to go, Chris!

Would it be possible to get a map of the constellation Aurigae with some of the stars labelled to use in newspaper articles?

I started writing a biweekly newspaper column shortly after getting back from Chicago and recently published the 7th edition. I waited until now to mention Eps Aur because I wanted to educate my readers/audience first. I have a small segment in each column called Astronomy Word of the Week where I explain a concept like magnitude, iridium flare, or variable star. After talking about variable stars a bit last week edition, I devoted the next one entirely to Epsilon Aurigae. The story came out last Sunday. The column itself runs in the Lifestyles section. If anyone is interested in reading the article itself, I have attached it. They also printed the star chart from the 10 Star Tutorial of Aurigae.Let me know what you think.Clear Skies!Mike ProkoschHuntsville, TexasS.H.S.U. Observatory
