Project Goals

Greetings and welcome to the DSLR Documentation and Reduction team.  I've summarized our project goals below.  This page is a wiki so anyone who is a member of the team can edit it.  If you have any other ideas, feel free to add them in here.  After a document is completed, Brian Kloppenborg (this team's Citizen Sky Liaison) will move the documents onto the Citizen Sky website.

  • Primary Goal: Create Documentation for use on the Citizen Sky Website focused on DSLR cameras.
  • Create tutorials on various photometric reduction packages (i.e. AIP4WIN, MaximDL, IRIS, IRAF/PyRAF)
  • Create tutorials on optimizing the results from your camera (presumably in a quantifiable way)
  • Create tutorials on characterizing your camera
  • Quantify how well different photometric packages compare with each other (i.e. a paper topic)

All documents need to be easy to read and include screenshot explanations of the steps involved.  More detailed "level 2" introductions showing off the nicer features of each software package are encouraged, but the basic "introductory level" needs to be completed first.

Goal Status:

  1. Create Introductory Level Tutorials (Complete: 20 Feb. 2010)
  2. Create Intermediate Level Tutorials
  3. Create Advanced Tutorials

Please see the DSLR Tutorial Documentation Pages for more information.
