Addition to "submit your visual observation" for Southern Gems

Citizen Sky is now officially permanent part of the AAVSO. In the coming weeks we will be moving additional content to the AAVSO site and freezing this site as an archive of the 1st three years of the project. Please visit the new landing page for future updates.

Once our tutorial is in place, we may want to consider requesting additions to the list of stars on this page: http://www.citizensky.org/submitdata/visualRegards,David

I thought I'd add some more

I thought I'd add some more details. The star selector permits a Citizen Sky participant to choose one of the Southern Gems stars. How should this be modified to handle Southern Gems? Here are some possibilities: 1. Have all stars in the same list but with a menu item separator line between 10-star and Southern Gems lists. 2. Have two different star selectors, one for the 10-star list and one for Southern Gems. 3. Have completely separate pages for 10-star and Southern Gems submissions. That's not ideal given the bulk of commonality between 10-star and Southern Gems. The chart ID text box defaults to 10star and it might be okay to ask people to type in Southern Gemsor even just Gems with an addition to the contextual help for that item. An alternative is to have a selector with 10-star and Southern Gems in, but that precludes use of other charts suggested by the contextual help currently. I would have thought that for the purpose this page is intended to serve, limiting choices to 10-star and Southern Gems is not entirely crazyanyway. I've been submitting eta Aquilae observations in recent times and it would be nice to be able to enter a specific Southern Gems chart ID here. :) Other thoughts? Regards, David

Thought I'd add some more...

Hi David and Other Southern Gems Teammates, As far as I am concerned, I don't really have a preference and I think you are more likely to think of all the angles and needs here than I am, so I will go with whatever you think is best. Other members who might have some preferences, please respond so that David will know what we want. Thanks. And thank you so much, David, for your work on this. Best Wishes, Joan<!--Session data-->
