First, my vote. I agree with a few other comments that the letter "V" is preferred over an "S" in the center. I'm leaning towards #1 myself.I just sent an email to Nico about the technical details of incorporating the icon into VStar. I think that having the center of the star transparent might make it hard to see depending on what color and background someone uses for a desktop. I really like the transparent effect around the outside of the star, though. The icon will appear in the info box when you download VStar at a size of 64x64 pixels, and then on the desktop at a 1/2 size of 32x32. So we need to make sure it looks ok at the smaller size.It is very easy for me to include the icon whenever he has finished designs. I'm thinking we should go another week or so for any changes that he would like to make, and more comments from the group.This is a nice touch to add to the software, and it will be a great addition!
I agree with Elizabeth: #3 looks best, but others (such as #1) would be contenders if they had "V" instead of "S"). #2 is also interesting to me, but I think the concept of a iconified star gets the point across better (so to speak).Arne
So I think the voting is going pretty well so far. Well, I have to admit that on a second look most icons, if not all, still look very raw. So I will polish them, make em look more mature and professional. Give me till tomorrow, maybe tonight to work a little more on these. The basic shape will not change, I just have to do some "fancy" stuff with em.
My vote goes to #3. If some of the other star designs had a V inside instead of an S, I would consider them competition for #3.
...but they are all nice Nico. :)If pressed I would vote for 3, but I'd be more likely to go for one of the others if the 'S' was replaced by a 'V'. I'm thinking you probably meant for each vertex of the star to be the tip of a 'V' with the open ends towards the 'S' in the center. OTOH you may really have meant to say 'V' rather than 'S' in the center. :)Regards,David

I like number 7 but icon 3 does get the message across in a better fashion.So my vote goes to #3.
I'm going to say 3 then 5.I like 3 because it's very clear, and straight foward.I like 5 because it's more stylish, but a little hard to read on that background so it might be hard to see on others.
