Hi All, I just wanted to let you know that I recently created a new page on the AAVSO website that contains information on plug-ins:

There were several questions raised in response to the talk I gave at the AAVSO meeting last month, and I realized it was time to document how to use plugins and give links so that people can download them easily without having to visit the VStar SourceForge site. I figure we can add to this library as new useful plug-ins are developed. If anyone has any thoughts or suggestions for improvement of this page, please let me know. VStar has actually gotten quite a bit of exposure on the AAVSO website lately with a blog post and a new VStar overview page. I feel it is important to get the word out there about this great product and AAVSO members and observers are the perfect audience!

Thanks for putting this page together Sara! Thanks also to Doug for his feedback and for suggesting two of the plug-ins on the page. Now, I'm seeing plug-in opportunities everywhere! For example, Bikeman just posted to the Mira Fourier Coefficient Team re: a fast Chi-Squared based period analysis algorithm. You'll find other examples of yet-to-be-implemented algorithms in the VStar tracker, such as one for the AoV periodogram. The "fast" aspect of such algorithms matters as the size of the observation dataset grows. The so-called computationalcomplexityof such algorithms is something I should write a post about. I'd love to go implement the one Bikeman posted about Right Now, but instead I've created a tracker to capture it. So many algorithms, so little time.Sigh. If anyone wants to know more about VStar plug-ins or wants to have a go a writing one, just let us know. Regards, David
