I am a member of the Astronomical Society of South Australia (ASSA) and enjoy using my Meade LX90 to share the night sky with members of ASSA and the general public. A desire to make a contribution to the scientific community has motivated me to collaborate with the AAVSO and Citizen Sky participants to develop a new Java incarnation of VStar, a variable star data visualisation and analysis program of which I am the lead developer and about which I spoke at the Chicago workshop in August.
In 1994 I observed the impact "scars" on Jupiter from comet Shoemaker-Levy 9 with my humble 4.5" Newtonian.
