Just got back into astronomy this past summer thanks to my wife giving me a CPC1100 for our tenth anniversary. I'm still not sure if that was because she wanted to get me the go-to I've always wanted or she wanted to kick me out of the house so she could watch her home improvement shows. :) I've always been interested in astronomy and space but had only a brief period of actual hands on astronomy before my many year layoff in between due to other personal commitments, so I'm a rank newbie! After getting back into it I was pleasantly surprised to find how far along the hobby has come from being a mainly solitary calling to a widespread group that now has access to contribute to science, that is SO exciting! After some hands on training using Photometrica, I became more interested in variable stars which I was completely ignorant to before and found them to be a great subject to learn more about so here I am. I joined the AAVSO and Citizen Sky as a way to learn more about visual observing while I begin my learning experience in CCD photometry with robotic scopes. I can't believe the amount of information that is available to the general public through the AAVSO and the outreach efforts they continually pursue to get more people interested, they're fantastic! As I begin my learning curve, I hope to be able to learn to accurately contribute to light curves for the AAVSO and Citizen Sky.<br />
