Background/Interesting Fact:

I became a Member and Observer of the AAVSO several years ago, and proceded to submit visual observations to the AAVSO database. I was never a prolific observer. After a few years, I obtained an SSP3 photoelectric photometer, and with the help of the PEP chairman and Arne Hendon and R. Kaitchuk's book on PEP taught myself the principles of two-colour PEP. I doing so, I developed an understand of the procedures and formulae for determining the magnitudes of variable stars, and for determining extinction and transformation coefficients. I developed an interest in Delta Scuti variables, and undertook a project to observe these stars, funded by the Astronomical Association of Queensland, based in Brisbane, Australia. The funding was to purchase an SSP5 photoelectric photometer. I became aware of DSLR photometry, obtained a camera, studied the DSLR photometry tutorials on the Citizen Sky web site, and commenced reducing some data of my own (not related to Eps Aur, which is too far to the north for my observing site).
